Shu by Aswan is a woody aquatic fragrance created by perfumer Ibrahim Al Zoabi and released in 2025. It opens with airy ozonic facets brightened by bergamot and petitgrain, moves into a heart of solar nuances, sea notes, and fig, and settles on a modern base of amberwood, labdanum, and ambroxan. Shu, the ancient Egyptian god of air and sunlight, was one of the nine deities of the Ennead of the Heliopolis cosmogony. He was created by Atum, the self-created god, who conjured Shu from his own spittle. Shu was the husband and brother of Tefnut, goddess of moisture, and father of Nut (sky) and Geb (earth). His great-grandsons are Horus and Anubis. He separated Nut from Geb, creating the world as we know it. Shu is often depicted as a human with feathers on his head, as he is associated with dry and warm air, and was believed to have the power to bring life and fertility to the land. This feather serves as the hieroglyphic sign for his name. Shu was the god of wind, air, lions, and peace. He supported the sky on his shoulders. This story is a reminder that even gods have to work hard to keep things in balance.
